A 40-year-old from the Innviertel suffered injuries in the neck area on the night of August 3rd. The man is said to have been attacked with a knife by his wife while he was sleeping. The Ried public prosecutor’s office has now filed charges of attempted murder.
A 31-year-old woman is accused, the presumption of innocence applies. According to the prosecution, the suspect is said to have inflicted an approximately 18 centimeter long, horizontal cut on the man’s neck. Again and again there should have been crises in the couple’s relationship.
The 40-year-old may have moved out of the joint household in the meantime, but returned in the summer. According to the investigation, the woman is said to have mixed various sleep-inducing medications into her husband’s food weeks before the crime in order to find out how he reacted to them. On the evening of August 2, the accused is said to have mixed drugs into her husband again at dinner.

The 40-year-old should then have fallen into a deep sleep relatively quickly. Prosecutors are certain that the woman went into the bedroom late in the evening to kill her husband with a knife. During the crime, the victim woke up and started screaming, the alleged perpetrator fled.
The Innviertler was brought to the Passau Clinic with the rescue, where he was operated on and then taken to the intensive care unit. The man was lucky, after only one night he could be transferred to the normal ward, after a few days he was released again as an inpatient.

According to OÖN information, the psychiatric expert Adelheid Kastner found that the accused had a mild form of personality disorder. There was no insanity. The deed was not done in an emotional state. Rather, there is a deliberate act.
During her interrogation, the suspect is said to have described several versions of the course of the crime, including a denial of the crime. The decisive factor now will be the responsibility before a jury. An exact trial date has not yet been set.
If convicted, the accused, who is in custody and has not yet been charged with a criminal offence, face up to 20 years in prison.
