“Bah, it’s stuffy in there. So, open the windows, come on! Stinken tut’s a” – This is how one of the videos by Michael Skopek alias mmichi.i starts with the title “Teacher when you’re having a bad day”. He makes teacher and parent parodies on social media – and is entertaining more and more people with it. Many feel transported back to their school days, even teachers comment under his videos how well he meets the situations. He is already followed by more than 160,000 users on TikTok, a social media platform on which short videos are published, and almost 40,000 on Instagram.

Almost two years ago, during the “I don’t know how many lockdowns” in January 2021, Skopek started publishing videos on TikTok on a regular basis. “First I released dance videos. After a video conference back in March, I thought it would be fun to reenact how we students are doing in this situation,” says the 17-year-old Welser – thought, done. The big surprise: “The video went viral. I really didn’t expect that.” The next parodies were also well received, one of his videos quickly had 1.5 million views – that’s how many times it was clicked.
“You saved my day”
The goal he is pursuing with the videos: “I want people to laugh more again.” The corona pandemic was a difficult time – he wanted to give people back a little lightness between press conferences and wearing masks. As a “class clown” this is not a problem for him. He often made his classmates laugh. He also seems to be able to do this with people on social media. Again and again, users write messages like: “I’m watching the video for the tenth time, it’s so funny” or “You saved my day”. “That always touches me a lot,” says Skopek.
Normal everyday life inspires him for his videos. “I recreate situations that everyone knows.” – For example, how a teacher reacts when half of the students are negative in their schoolwork. It is important to him that he never specifically wants to attack anyone.
He still has enough ideas – there are so many different situations from teachers, parents and students that he would like to pack into videos. Fans keep asking him to recreate something they have experienced.

The most important thing is to have fun
He now also earns money with his videos through advertising partners. “But it’s always about having fun and having a passion for it. It’s still my hobby,” he says. Professionally, he is considering swapping the camera for a live audience and appearing as a cabaret artist. At the moment he is doing an apprenticeship as a media specialist. “I always had a hard time at school. I really like the apprenticeship now,” says Skopek.
When he’s not working or making videos, he likes to meet up with friends. His family is also important to him. He has also been dancing at the Santner dance school in Wels for seven years. “Unfortunately I neglected that because of the videos. Everything doesn’t work out.” He doesn’t want to let it go completely. However, he and his dance partner rejected the idea of going to dance tournaments.
Skopek is now recognized on the street. “A year ago I would have never thought that I would be approached on the street and have such a cool and strong community. I’m incredibly happy every time.”
