The east of Linz between the tobacco factory and the port area is an economic growth zone. Projects such as the expansion of the E-Tech Center, the new Dynatrace building or the new MIC site center require traffic planning. With the mobility concept approved yesterday in the city senate for this dynamically developing district, a traffic concept should be available by the beginning of 2024.
The direction of attack is clear for the responsible Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart (VP). “We can no longer just look at the cars, we have to achieve a shift towards active mobility.” Active in this case means cycling and walking.
That’s why Hajart is not only looking for the expertise of the experts, but also wants to include the local population in the considerations. Because the area is not only a sought-after location for companies, but also for living space. This is like having an open heart operation, Hajart chose a visual comparison. This requires a consistent vision and appropriate action.
Work on the Lederergasse cycle path axis will begin as early as next year. Starting at Kaisergasse, a cycle path will be built in both directions on the left-hand side of the road in the direction of Gruberstraße. This will be partly structurally separated from the roadway, otherwise it will be color-coded. This part of the cycle path axis should be passable in 2023. The second section to Petzoldstraße is easier to implement and will follow.
