Participation stations suitable for the Advent season await children from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the crib exhibition in the former palm house in the Steyr Castle Park. The highlights of the show are the baroque Lamberg nativity figures and the so-called wagon nativity scene by Josef Seidl from the Mühlviertel region. Steyrer crib stories and children can experience lots of customs on a tour of the city from 2 p.m. Register for this at the tourist office by 12 noon.

Also this year families can steam for free with the museum train from Steyr to Grünburg. It starts at 1 p.m. at the local train station and returns at 3.30 p.m. from Grünburg. The train is reserved, but from experience there are always free seats on the train for those who try it.

It’s not just children who are happy about small presents at Christmas, animals do too – in the form of small packets of food, which are available at the entrance to Tierpark Haag. The popular animal park offers winter experiences with the animals for young and old on December 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – and on December 24 even with free admission.

peace light
Carrying the light of peace home in a lantern appeals to children. In many communities, the youth fire brigade brings the light of peace home on December 24th. In Steyr, the peace light can be picked up from the Münichholz fire brigade from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from the Ennsleite tobacconist from 7.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The net proceeds from the fundraiser will go to help Magdalena, who is in a wheelchair, for a partner dog.
