“In the morning I’m out and about with the Amesedt FF, of which I’m the commander, with the peace light, in the afternoon there are sausages at home, and in the evening I go to work for the Red Cross,” Daniel Rauscher describes his daily routine on December 24th .
Service for the sixth time
Eight years ago, the fireman also grabbed the red jacket of the Red Cross at the Hofkirchen site. He has been on duty on Christmas Eve for six years.
Not only for the sake of the people in his area of operation, but also to do something good for his colleagues: “I do this service so that the civil servants and the full-time employees can be at home. Especially if they have children,” Daniel answers the question the why. As is usual in voluntary work, the rewards are gratitude and recognition.
Voluntary Network
Daniel Rauscher is one of around 750 mostly voluntary rescue service employees who are on duty in Upper Austria over the public holidays. “The commitment of volunteers strengthens our society,” the paramedic and firefighter is convinced. This is all the more true at Christmas. That’s another reason why he invites you to get involved. The offers for this are quite diverse, especially at the Red Cross.
