The avalanche went off just before 3 p.m. below the Trittkopf (2,720 meters). The masses of snow also reached ski slope no. 134 (Balmen). Shortly thereafter, eight helicopters, including three from Tyrol, and several search parties were on their way to the avalanche cone. The helicopters landed and took off again and again on the Flexenpass (1,773 meters), which was closed to traffic.

200 helpers in the search operation

According to information from the police and the municipality of Lech, to which Zürs belongs, more than 200 people were involved in the search. “We do everything to save the winter sports enthusiasts,” said the community. After dark, the avalanche cone was illuminated and the search continued on land.
