An argument in the drug milieu on Christmas Eve in the city of Linz got completely out of hand: around 10 p.m. two drug users clashed on Wiener Strasse. The situation escalated to such an extent that a 20-year-old from Linz stabbed his opponent, a 27-year-old Russian, in the back with a butterfly knife.

The suspect called 911 himself and turned himself in. During the interrogation, he confessed, but spoke of a “self-defence situation”. He was arrested on the spot and taken to the Linz police detention center. On Christmas Day, the public prosecutor ordered a transfer to Linz Prison.
The victim was treated by paramedics from the Samaritan Association and then taken to the UKH in Linz for further treatment, the police said. No details were known about his condition on Sunday evening.
