The unknown man had posed as a famous classical musician and contacted the Upper Austrian via a social media platform at the beginning of the summer. The two then wrote to each other many times and the supposedly well-known string musician pretended to be in love with the victim.
According to the police, between the end of June and the end of October, the stranger repeatedly asked the 71-year-old from the Gmunden district for money, which she also transferred to him. The woman’s demands became more and more dubious over time and she ultimately went to the police. The total damage was around 56,000 euros.
