A week before Christmas, a mother and her three children suddenly found themselves in their small house in the cold. The very old wood-fired stove used for cooking and heating had finally given up the ghost.
The Lions Club Steyrtal found out about it by chance. “We went to the family to get an idea,” says Kurt Plursch, President of the Steyrtal Lions Club: “It felt like zero degrees in the house.” Rapid and unbureaucratic help was needed.
Together with club secretary Andreas Bachinger, he asked the Lohberger company in Schalchen, from which the table stove came, for spare parts. These were no longer available for the old model. Johann Rinnerthaler, who is in charge of customer service for the “Stove & Ovens” division at the Lohberger Group, after consulting the management, offered the Steyrtal family, which was financially struggling in every nook and cranny, a display stove worth several thousand to give euros.
President Kurt Plursch brought the new wood-burning stove in his company bus from Schalchen in the Braunau district to the Steyrtal as “Christkindl”, the installation company Augustin also took care of the professional installation free of charge. The whole action lasted less than five days.
The single mother and her three children were able to celebrate Christmas without freezing. “We would like to thank the Steyrtal Lions Club, the Lohberger company and the Augustin company for this Christmas present,” says the happy Steyrtaler.
