The 34-year-old from Vorarlberg won the first competition of the Silvester Tournament on Wednesday with 257.9 points (91.5 m/95.5 m) ahead of Norway’s Anna Odine Ström (-9.5 points) and Slovenia’s Nika Kriznar (- 14.4) and thus also took the lead in the overall World Cup ranking. Salzburg’s Sara Marita Kramer (-15.0) took fifth place.Villach. Pinkelnig proved that the hill in Villach suits her. The experienced jumper, who was unbeatable in the qualification, was already in the lead after the first round with a jump of 91.5 m. In the final, she added the maximum distance of 95.5 m.
“I always try to do my best, I’m doing incredibly well at the moment,” said Pinkelnig, who celebrated her fifth individual World Cup success. “It was the first win at home and I will particularly enjoy the anthem,” said the 34-year-old. With her second win of the season after the second mat competition in Wisla, she replaced Germany’s Katharina Althaus, who was ninth in Villach, at the top of the World Cup rankings.
Kramer “very satisfied” with fifth place
As the second best Austrian, Kramer could also be satisfied. Last season’s overall World Cup winner improved in the second round from tenth to fifth with a jump of 93.5 m. She was only 0.6 points short of a place on the podium. “I’m very, very satisfied,” said Kramer, who had recently struggled with her performance. “I have an approach again where I can say I can keep working. It’s going in the right direction again and gives me motivation for further competitions. It was a very cool competition,” analyzed the Salzburg native.
Chiara Kreuzer took 13th place with 231.5 points (89.5 m/89.0 m), Jacqueline Seifriedsberger came in 23rd with 214.0 points (88.0/81.5). The Carinthian local hero Hannah Wiegele missed out 39. the leap into the final round.
On Thursday (1.00 p.m. live ORF 1) there will be another competition in Villach. The new women’s tour for the “Golden Owl” will then be concluded with two competitions on New Year’s Eve (4:00 p.m.) and New Year’s Day (4:30 p.m., both live ORF 1) in Ljubno, Slovenia.
