14-year-old driver caused an accident on the A7

An accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Dornach district of Linz on the A7 in the direction of the city center. A car driven by a 14-year-old, who was accompanied by three other minors, crashed into two vehicles while fleeing the police, injuring a total of five people (three teenagers and two bystander drivers).

The boy and his young accomplices are said to have stolen the car in Linz and taken it for a spin. A police search was already underway for the stolen vehicle, as it was said on Wednesday afternoon.

Two paramedic teams on duty

First of all, the car was sighted in Traun, a spokeswoman for the State Police Directorate told OÖN. The four young people between the ages of 14 and 16 are said to have been on the road with it. They first drove to Urfahr, but there they turned around in Treffling and drove back towards Linz. The police must have been looking for the thieves by then.

At the accident site in the Dornach area, the 14-year-old then drove into a car driving in front of him and crashed into another car. How serious the injuries are to the five victims was not yet clear in the evening. They had to be cared for by two Red Cross paramedic teams from Linz and Gallneukirchen. An ambulance was not necessary, it said.

Boy was arrested

The 14-year-old who drove the stolen car was temporarily arrested, according to the LPD spokeswoman. The investigations against the young quartet are ongoing. Whether the car theft is related to those 13-year-olds who are said to have attacked taxi drivers in Linz was not clear for the time being.
