Netz Oberösterreich put four new substations into operation in 2022 with a total investment of around 45 million euros, including at the Ohlsdorf site. The new systems enable a better and more efficient supply, while at the same time creating new grid capacities that are necessary for the absorption of decentrally generated solar power.
Ohlsdorf and the surrounding communities have been supplied from a switching station in the community since the 1970s. This was sufficient for many decades. As a result of the dynamic economic development in the region, the switching station has now been expanded into a complete substation. This will free up significant capacities in the other plants.
Netz-OÖ Managing Director Manfred Hofer: “Substations are the central switching points in the power grid, with which an efficient and reliable supply of electricity to our customers can be ensured.”
