Austria’s first regional crowdfunding platform started in May. It was initiated by the Wels-based eww group, which uses it to finance projects in the areas of sport, culture and social affairs. This was a successful boost for seven projects. A total of 34,000 euros in funding was distributed. Most recently, the start-up financing was increased from 100 to 500 euros.
The municipal energy supplier is on the spot with 10,000 euros. For every donation of 10 euros or more, the eww pays 20 euros. The clubs are assisted by project coaches, with whom financing goals and measures are discussed. Then the project goes online.
The rowing club, the super volleys, the jumping chickens (baseball), the huskies (American football), the Union tennis club, the musical waves, the Wels reading festival and the learning board were all successfully financed this year.
The rowing club financed an accompanying boat through the crowd. With a funding sum of 10,433 euros, this was also the largest project. A good example is the learning board that created online learning places with the money.
