From January to November 2022, the ÖBB processed 3,600 evaluations by the police, and since 2021 around 2,000 suspects have been identified in the ÖBB surveillance videos. The images go to the police, who can use them for searches, for example.
The evaluation of videos from train stations and trains is particularly helpful for international criminal groups. “ÖBB is an important partner for the police when it comes to security issues,” says Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (VP).
