The Villach double winner had to admit defeat by just 0.9 points in the third competition in Ljubno to the Norwegian Anna Odine Ström, who was successful for the first time. Before the final of the series on New Year’s Day, Pinkelnig continues to lead comfortably over 23 points ahead of Ström, and after three wins so far she is also ahead in the World Cup classification.
“It was very, very close. I begrudge Anna her first victory,” stressed Pinkelnig, who had finished 29th in qualifying the day before. “In competition I manage to call up my performance.” You hope for a casual conclusion on Sunday. “It’s going amazingly right now, I’m enjoying it.”
ÖSV head coach Harald Rodlauer was impressed by the consistently strong Pinkelnig. “She did it again, sensationally,” said Rodlauer and wasn’t upset about the missed victory. “We’re back on the podium, so we can be very satisfied.” As the second best Austrian, Chiara Kreuzer from Salzburg finished seventh with her best result of the season. Sara Marita Kramer only finished 18th.
