Around 2 a.m. the man is said to have grabbed his wife of the same age in Wels bei Mühlbach with both hands and choked him for several seconds. After that, he initially let go of her, the police reported on New Year’s Eve. According to the woman, she then wanted to run away, whereupon her husband ran after her, grabbed her and choked her with both hands again. He then finally left his wife and fled to his apartment himself. The police arrested the man there with the support of the special unit EKO Cobra. He was taken to Wels Prison.
The woman had to be treated in hospital. “Further surveys are being conducted,” said a police release.
