The Riederhütte will remain closed this year

Since the end of October last year, the Riederhütte in the eastern Höllengebirge has not been farmed. The former landlords, Günter Hausjell and Karin Braun, finally descended into the valley after a dispute with the Alpine Club section Ried im Innkreis and will breathe new life into the country inn Kreh in Ebensee from April.

In the meantime, it is uncertain who will bring the Riederhütte (1,740 meters above sea level) back to life. The only thing that is certain is that it won’t happen this year. The hut, which can be reached from the Feuerkogel in around two hours, remains closed due to renovation work. Improvements to the tenant’s apartment and sewage treatment plant are to be carried out in several stages. A new tenant should be found by spring 2023.
