The 66-year-old was driving his car in the direction of Linz around 3:30 p.m. when he steered sharply to the left for an unknown reason and crashed head-on into the car of a 41-year-old from Pergkirchen, who was heading in the opposite direction at the same time on the way to Perg was.
As a result of the violent impact, the man’s car rolled over twice and finally came to a standstill on the road on its roof. The 41-year-old was thrown into the adjacent ditch with her car.

The alerted emergency services from the Perg and Schwertberg fire departments used hydraulic shears to free the two seriously injured drivers from the wrecked car. After the first aid, the two were taken to the hospital, the 66-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries according to the police at Medcampus III in Linz in the evening. The second person involved in the accident was taken to the UKH Linz. The relatives are cared for by the crisis intervention team.
