Although he wasn’t a top star in the World Rally Championship, he still had many fans around the world: Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident in the USA. The accident was confirmed by his team Hoonigan Racing Division on Tuesday morning. “It is with the greatest regret that we confirm that Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident,” the team said in a statement. Block was 55 years old.
Block became internationally known through his action videos. The high-quality productions show spectacular drifts and stunts filmed all over the world and sometimes have hits of several hundred million clicks. In everyday racing, Block was on the road in various rally championships.
Block had been traveling near his home in Utah. As the local sheriff’s office announced, the snowmobile landed on the extreme sports star, who succumbed to injuries on the spot. He leaves behind his wife and three daughters. “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And, most importantly, father and husband. He will be sorely missed. Please respect the family’s privacy while they mourn,” the statement read on Instagram.
