Start of training: LASK and Ried started spring

LASK trainer Didi Kühbauer asked an unchanged squad to practice in Pasching, the former loan striker Marin Ljubicic only trained with a new status after his permanent commitment. “We got a very good starting position in the fall. We want to build on that and take the momentum into the new Raiffeisen Arena as best we can,” said Kühbauer.

The first home game in the new stadium on the Gugl against Austria Lustenau will take place on February 24th. Until then, however, there is still a lot of work to be done for the third-placed team. On January 19, they fly to Belek, Turkey, for a ten-day training camp, with a total of six friendlies planned. At the start of spring, Austria Klagenfurt will be in Pasching in the quarter-finals of the cup on February 5th, and they will have their first league appearance on February 10th in Altach.

Ried wants to increase momentum

SV Ried also started the spring preparations on Tuesday with mobility tests in the SVR training center, training on natural grass at the old Ried stadium and “a lot of energy”. The multiple Croatian youth team defender Roko Jurisic (21) was also seen for the first time. The goal for the coming weeks is to work on the dynamics, explained coach Christian Heinle, whose team is two points ahead of Hartberg in the penultimate place in the table.

The starting position: “We scored too few goals,” Heinle clarified once more. With the exception of Jurisics, his squad is practically unchanged, but “solutions have been found that we are now working on. The lack of momentum was already the focus in December and that is now the first focus in the first few weeks of preparation.”

From January 17th to 24th, the camp will be set up in Belek, Turkey. A total of five friendlies are planned before the quarter-finals of the cup at third division club Wiener Sport-Club take place on February 4th. “We want to reach the cup final for the second time in a row. And we want to avoid a constellation like last season in Hartberg and fix the league before the last matchday,” said SVR sports director Wolfgang Fiala.
