“We expected 30 to 40 participants at this first event and are overwhelmed that so many took part!” says Lisa Steiner about the successful premiere of the Königswiesener New Year’s Eve Run. A year ago, Steiner had this New Year’s Eve run in his head and then organized it with many helpers from the citizens’ list “fürKW”. On the last day of the year, athletes from Königswiesen and various Upper Austrian running clubs such as TV Grein or the TGW Zehnkampf Union were at the start.
Hundreds of spectators cheered on the enthusiastic children and adults along the one-kilometer route around the center of Königswiesen. Five laps had to be completed in the main run. The 40 registered children were particularly pleasing. Numerous relay teams were also at the start, competing in threes. The best times of the day were set by Eveline Heins and Florian Rosinger.
“The second New Year’s Eve run will take place in Königswiesen on December 31, 2023 and we would like to thank everyone who took part this year and invite them to 2023,” says Lisa Steiner. Half of the net proceeds from this event are made available for KW to upgrade the children’s playground at the school.
