Eight percent of travelers from China in Japan tested positive

Overall, from December 30 to January 5 at Japanese airports, 408 out of 4,895 passengers with direct flights from China and travelers who had been in China in the past seven days tested positive for the corona virus, the Ministry of Health said. Japan has been testing all travelers from China upon arrival at the airport since Friday last week out of concern about the massive corona wave in the People’s Republic. For visits to Austria, travelers from China will have to present a negative PCR test before departure.

Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) announced a corresponding amendment to the entry regulation on Thursday. It will be available in the next few days, the Ministry of Health said. Germany, Sweden, Belgium and Greece had previously announced corona test requirements.
