In the Gamsstadt, as part of the 83rd Hahnenkamm race, there will be a downhill run on the Streif on January 20th and 21st and a slalom on the Ganslern on January 22nd.
“The snow cover is very, very good from the start to the finish. Nothing stands in the way of the races – should nothing unforeseeable happen – but according to the weather report we’re even lucky and it’s getting whiter,” said FIS Race Director Hannes Trinkl.
Snow cannons were in full swing in December
A lot of snow had already been produced in December. “Thanks to the large amount of snowfall within a few days in mid-December, excellent conditions were created. Before the thaw, the Streif was largely prepared for racing and it is still in a condition that ensures good conditions for future work and fair races,” said Herbert Hauser, Slope manager on the Streif.
The Ganslernhang was also ready to race a week before Christmas. “Of course, a few spots aren’t perfect yet, but we’ll get back to work on the slope from Monday,” explained slope manager Stefan Lindner. The characteristics, including the many transitions, will be very natural this year.
