Corona deniers will come to Steyr again tomorrow from all directions on a rally to celebrate the two-year “anniversary” of the “Sunday walks” with drum rolls and loudspeaker music from the town square. The celebratory mood will not spread to the population, most of the residents along the march routes have had enough. The citizens’ movement “Yes We Care” and other opponents of the parades, which were infiltrated by right-wing extremists, who are standing vigil in front of the Neutor and the Red Fountain as a counterbalance, have now put up banners, posters and stickers that the residents can pick up for their windows, doors and displays be able. A well-known graphic artist from Steyr has designed free subjects in which a person puts their finger to their lips and asks for a quiet day on Sunday. “Don’t be a noisemaker!”, “Save yourself clumsy slogans!” and “Walking is quiet!” stands as slogans on the advertising media.
For the municipal councilor of the Greens, Ruth Pohlhammer, who is privately involved with the human rights platform “Yes We Care”, the first thing to do is to finally take a stand against the noise that is being used to roll over the people of Steyr during the protests. The Steyr police have only timidly and very seldom imposed petty fines when the noise measurements went beyond the already generous limit of 85 decibels. Pohlhammer is concerned with the banners, with which as many houses as possible along the protest marches are to be flagged in the future, but above all to convey important content: “It’s simply questionable for our democracy how right-wing extremists can mingle with dissatisfied people here to get their pursue dangerous goals.” Videos posted on You-Tube in accordance with the organizers called for “this government bastard” to be taken to “a labor camp”. Mayor Markus Vogl (SP) and city councilors Katrin Auer (SP) and Michael Schodermayr (SP) have already openly opposed the “Sunday walks”. FP Deputy Mayor Helmut Zöttl, on the other hand, marches with them almost every Sunday.
