According to the police, the 52-year-old had cut down a spruce with his son in his own forest near Vorau, but it got stuck on another tree. Then the son went to get the tractor with the winch. When he came back, he saw his badly injured father lying next to the fallen tree. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency doctor, the 52-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
