Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg advise against traveling to China due to an outbreak of infections

The Belgian authorities joined this recommendation: “Due to the hospital saturation risk and the risk of not being able to be served quickly in an emergency, non-essential travel remains discouraged“, indicated the portal of the belgian chancellery.

Luxembourg shares the opinion of Germany and currently advises against non-essential travel to China,” announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the European country, replicated by the AFP news agency.

China faces a unprecedented wave of infections for three years after the authorities in December suspended the strategy of “Covid zero” that they had implemented during the pandemic. This led to several countries, including USA, Israel or several nations of the European Union (EU)they established controls to travelers from China.

Despite the rebound in infections, the Chinese authorities will end this Sunday the mandatory quarantines upon arrival in the country and will once again authorize the Chinese to Travel abroadafter three years of limitations.

China condemned on Tuesday the imposition of anticovid tests by some countries, considering them “unacceptable” and threatening “countermeasures”. On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) questioned this week the official statistics of China around the outbreak, considering that “underrepresent” the situation.

Beijing modified the death count methodology and now only deaths whose direct cause is the respiratory insufficiency. This explains why, despite the fact that Chinese hospitals are overwhelmed and the crematoriums saturatedfew deaths linked to the Covid-19.
