The accident happened between the stations Pasture and the Racewhich belong to the Subway Line 3which runs from north to south of the Mexican capital, one of the largest cities in America in which they live 20 million people. The press indicated that the trains collided in the tunnel that connects both stations.
Meanwhile, local television images showed injured people who were treated in ambulances while dozens of passengers were evicted from the tracks.

The Mexico City Subway was inaugurated in 1969 and has an extension of 226 kilometers and 195 stations on 12 different lines, according to the AFP news agency. In 2021the authorities estimated that the Subway was used that year by a total of 837 million passengers.
