Innviertler landlord’s son died in an accident in Lower Austria

There is great sadness in the municipality of Altheim in the district of Braunau: the 19-year-old son of a host family from the municipality died in a traffic accident in Lower Austria on Saturday night. Many people in town knew him from his parents’ business, where he worked as a cook and waiter, says Altheim Mayor Harald Huber: “I also knew him personally, he was very popular. The mood is very sad.”

The accident happened on Saturday around 10:30 p.m. in Langschlag (Zwettl district). The 19-year-old was driving in the car of a 20-year-old man from Lower Austria. For an unknown reason, they came off the road on a right-hand bend on a freight road. The vehicle skidded, overturned and crashed into a wooded area. The young Innviertler suffered such serious injuries in the accident that he died at the scene of the accident. The 20-year-old driver was taken to the Sankt Pölten University Hospital in the “Christophorus 2” rescue helicopter. Two other passengers aged 18 and 19 brought the rescue with serious injuries to the Freistadt Clinic.

Mayor Huber said yesterday evening that he would speak to the mother of the victim during the course of Monday. “Of course we will also support them as best we can in these difficult times,” he says.
