The Iraqi is said to have stabbed his 42-year-old partner with a knife at around 7 a.m. in an apartment on Wiener Strasse. The man then fled in the car, the victim was able to call the police independently. The woman was taken to the Kepler University Hospital with serious injuries, but her life is not in danger. She wasn’t the man’s only victim. He drove to his place of work and there attacked a supposed rival. This too was injured.
The man then fled again by car. On the run, he rammed a police patrol who was walking in Leonding with full force. One officer was seriously injured. The fugitive jumped out of the car and snatched his assault rifle from the injured police officer. He was eventually overpowered and arrested by a task force. An eyewitness reported a large number of heavily armed police officers and a completely demolished car.
“We thought it was a traffic accident,” says an eyewitness. “A policewoman was lying on the sidewalk behind the police car. The dent in the windshield came from a policeman, his protective gear probably saved his life.”
Apparently, an eleven-year-old girl, probably the daughter of the 42-year-old Romanian, was in the apartment during the attack. According to neighbors, there have been repeated heated arguments between the perpetrator and the woman in recent years.
