Cavalieri maintained that mechanisms must be articulated to defend the popular will in Brazil

He stressed that it is important from all sectors, regardless of political inclination, to express themselves in against these facts since the democratic will must be respected: “Apart from the differences in postures and positions of each one of the actors involved in the foundation of national and regional policywe must articulate mechanisms that allow defending the popular will of the Brazilian people and the free exercise of democratic government of our sister country,” he said.

Cavalieri was also deeply moved by the coup attempt suffered by the president-elect of Brazil, Lula da Silva and repudiated the construction of politics based on hate. He pointed out that these situations threaten the most precious thing that a society has: constructive dialogue, social peace and full democracy.
