Shortly after 9 p.m., a police patrol on the A1 became aware of a black car. Its driver was traveling at 225 km/h near Sattledt in the direction of Salzburg. The officers wanted to stop the vehicle and check it, but the driver accelerated. The man, a 20-year-old Romanian citizen from the Vöcklabruck district, ignored all attempts to stop and drove on at far too high a speed. He almost escaped from the officers. During his ruthless escape, the Romanian endangered numerous road users. The man left the autobahn at the Laakirchen West exit and continued on the B144 towards Roitham. The speeder could be stopped there and arrested.
After clarifying the facts and establishing the identity, the arrest was lifted again. The 20-year-old is reported to the Wels public prosecutor’s office on suspicion of endangering physical safety and to the Wels-Land and Gmunden district authorities for numerous administrative violations.
