“Minimundus Strip”: B126 should be safer for cyclists

Together with the Neos, the Linz Greens therefore submitted a resolution to the Transport Councilor Günther Steinkellner (FP) in the December municipal council, which was accepted by a majority. Their goal: to remedy the infrastructure deficiencies and increase safety for cyclists on the B126.

Now the reply from the state is available. There it is stated that the first preliminary discussions with representatives of the city of Linz regarding possible improvements took place in mid-November.

Improvement measures that can be implemented in the short term for the said road section on the B126 are currently being examined, and another round of coordination between representatives of the state and those of the city of Linz is planned for the end of January 2023. It will also be up for discussion whether the previously planned bus lane is really necessary, it can be read there.

Traffic officer Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart (VP) now wants to work with the state to improve the situation for cyclists as quickly as possible: “Cycling is, as you know, very important to me, so it is important to me to achieve the best possible result in this area as well. “

Yesterday, Helge Langer, chairman of the Linz Greens, said it was gratifying that improvement measures were being examined. Addendum: “However, all those involved are required to quickly advance concrete implementation steps so that the ‘Minimundus’ cycle path is a thing of the past and a main cycle route that lives up to this name is created.”
