“Something will come,” says Robert Seeber to the OÖN. Contrary to media reports, however, a break at the Promenadenhof is not imminent. What is fixed is that the historic building at Promenade 39 has to be completely renovated. For example, the electrical installations and water pipes are around 100 years old. The owner is the state of Upper Austria, which has apparently been exploring the situation for months. A general renovation means that the building has to be completely gutted.
Refurbishment probably not before 2024
Seeber assumes that the Promenadenhof and probably also the event operations in the Redoutensäle will have to be paused for at least two years. It is not yet clear when the renovation will start. Due to the lead times, Seeber does not expect a date before 2024.
“Have been reserved for 22 years”
Still, his heart bleeds. “We have been reserved for 22 years and have no staffing problems,” says Seeber. Together with his wife, he took over a ruined Theatercasino 22 years ago and invested a lot of money and energy. “Business is excellent, but there’s no question that something needs to be done,” says Seeber.
