These were the most common causes: “A third of all operations in 2022 were due to weak, empty or defective batteries,” says Pointl. They were followed by engine problems with 23 percent and tire problems with ten percent. On the other places of breakdown reasons: In seven percent there were complications with the alternator or the starter and in five percent of the cases accidentally locked vehicle doors had to be opened.
16 operations per day in Eferding
The balance of the ÖAMTC Wels in 2022 in figures: 10,582 mobile breakdown services, 3632 towings, 10,984 stationary breakdown services and 65,573 contacts.
It was also a busy year for the ÖAMTC Grieskirchen and Eferding. The breakdown helpers went out 16 times a day. “We were called to 5,879 breakdowns on the road last year,” says Eferdinger base manager Alois Baschinger. There were also 1,272 towings, ten percent more than in the previous year. 12,437 glitches were fixed directly at the bases. Throughout Upper Austria, the ÖAMTC provided around 106,059 breakdown services on the road and 125,840 breakdown services at bases in 2022, and deployed the tow truck 42,436 times.
