“You don’t need to talk much about the distribution of roles in the derby,” says Michael Henschke, sports director of the VCA Amstetten. On Sunday from 7 p.m. in the Pölz-Halle, his six will welcome the probably overpowering competitor to the home derby in the volleyball league.
However, Henschke does not see his troops as completely without a chance. Most recently, Amstetten got in the mood for the derby with a 3-0 win against Klagenfurt, while the Waldviertel still have to digest the defeat against Graz.
“They’re favourites, but we definitely want to annoy them.” The cautious optimism is nourished by the fact that the VCA was close to the derby opponent in the defeats in the cup and in the league. Especially in the cup there was a gripping fight that lasted more than two hours. Only in the extension of the fifth set did Waldviertel win 18:16.
