This is mostly hereditary, but stress or deficiency symptoms can also be a reason.
Chinese researchers have identified another possible reason: hair loss could – as reported by “Stern” – also be related to the consumption of sugary drinks. This is the result of a new study by Tsinghua University in Beijing, which was published in the journal Nutrients. The researchers conducted an online survey of 1,028 Chinese men. Among other things, questions were asked about the condition of their hair and various habits.
Young men severely affected
The evaluation showed a connection between hair loss in men and sugary drinks – for example cola and energy drinks, but also juices or sweetened teas. Even small amounts can therefore have a negative effect. According to the study, men who consume an average of just one sugary drink a day are 30 percent more likely to lose their hair.
Young men between the ages of 13 and 27 were particularly hard hit. The more of these drinks were drunk, the more the risk of hair loss increased. However, it has not yet been clearly proven whether there is actually a causal connection between soft drinks and hair loss.
