The 32-year-old from Mühlviertler was driving his van on the L579 Nordwaldkammstraße in Sankt Oswald near Freistadt at around 5:25 p.m. when he caught the pensioner with the mirror.
The 78-year-old remained on the street after the impact and was taken to the Freistadt Clinic after the first aid by the rescue workers. An alcohol test carried out on the 32-year-old showed a blood alcohol level of 1.28, and his driver’s license was provisionally taken away.
