Tesla cuts prices in Europe and the United States

According to the website, customers in Germany have to pay up to 17 percent less for the “Model 3” and the “Model Y”, depending on the equipment.

According to “Futurezone”, the price reductions in Austria go even further with up to 25 percent. The starting price for a Model 3 in Germany will now be around 44,990 euros – 12,400 euros less than before. For a Model Y, the price is 10,400 euros lower at 54,990 euros. Customers who ordered a car in the past few weeks pay the new, lower price retrospectively.

Most recently, the company was forced to lower its prices by ten percent in China for the same reasons. It was the second price reduction since autumn last year. In the second most important market, Tesla is increasingly having to assert itself against strong competition from Chinese suppliers such as BYD, Xpeng and Nio.

This is also putting European manufacturers under pressure. German group Mercedes-Benz cut prices in China for its luxury model, the all-electric version of the S-Class, and for the electric EQE model. According to experts, a discount battle could now be imminent on the Chinese market.

Tesla also reduced prices in Japan, Singapore and Australia. Officially, the price reductions are justified with a “normalization of cost inflation”.
