Pierre Hardy, who designs shoes for the luxury fashion house Hermès, says the model, which has long been decried as stuffy, is in high demand. After the corona lockdowns, there was “weariness in terms of convenience,” says Hardy. “People want more elegant, chic things again.”
Olivier Saillard, artistic director at JM Weston, a manufacturer of luxury slip-ons “Made in France”, is not surprised at the comeback of the leather slip-on shoe. “Every fashion has a boomerang effect,” said the fashion historian.
