The group of nature conservationists in Mollner, who last Sunday organized an information event on the search for natural gas in the town, is reorganizing itself: “We are setting up a citizens’ initiative as soon as possible in order to obtain party status in possible future proceedings,” says Christian Hatzenbicher. The Mollner nature conservationist is, among other things, chairman of the “Bergwiesn” association.
A total of 200 supporting signatures from Molln and the neighboring communities are required for the citizens’ initiative. The initiators want to announce soon how these signatures will be collected. A suitable name for the initiative is still being sought. “We will also set up a website with information about the Jaidhaus,” says Hatzenbichler. Those interested should be able to find out about habitats and special features in the Jaidhaus nature reserve.
They also want to get involved in organizing and conducting further information events for the Mollners. As reported, test drilling is to take place on a meadow property in Molln in the spring in order to locate possible natural gas deposits. The necessary licenses and permits are available for these wells. Everything else depends on the results of these exploratory drillings.
