U-Committee: Last rescue attempt today

U-Committee: Last rescue attempt today

A very last attempt to invite at least Thomas Schmid as a witness in the VP corruption committee was postponed to today by the chairman Wolfgang Sobotka (VP). However, even before the rules of procedure meeting, the parliamentary groups were blaming the inglorious end of February 1st.

Because the time for timely charges is simply not enough, FP parliamentary group leader Christian Hafenecker proposed a further extension by one month. “It’s high time that this U-committee ended,” Andreas Hanger ruled out the approval of his VP parliamentary group. The turquoise counter-proposal to invite Schmid for this Friday was rejected by SP faction leader Jan Krainer as “not to be taken seriously” because of the short notice.

The Neos parliamentary group leader Stephanie Krisper blamed ÖVP and SPÖ for a final in the U-committee without witnesses. She also ruled out a renewed extension – which means that today it will mainly be about further applications for evidence.
