The outcry in the region after the OÖN report on the service contracts for ÖBB and Westbahn planned by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) from December 23 of this year is great. According to the tender, the Railjet stops in Amstetten and St. Valentin are to be cancelled.
The elimination of Railjet fast connections to Vienna Central Station, the airport and Linz would mean an enormous deterioration for the region, St. Valentin’s Mayor Kerstin Suchan-Mayr and Amstetten’s Deputy Mayor Gerhard Riegler (both SP) criticize this “wrong signal” in a broadcast : “Transport Minister Gewessler should expand train connections and not thin them out. We demand the preservation of all Railjet and Westbahn connections in Amstetten and St. Valentin as well as a future expansion of train connections.”
A petition was therefore started by the SP on Thursday to get the Railjet stops in Amstetten and St. Valentin as well as all Westbahn connections. After just one day, more than 2500 people supported this cause.
“We will put pressure on all levels to ensure the best possible train connections,” the statement said.
The petition can here under are supported.
