President Boluarte denies her resignation and calls for dialogue

Boluarte indicated that he will carry out an investigation within the framework of the Constitution to determine the responsibilities in the acts of violence for the demonstrations carried out since December 7, after the removal of former President Pedro Castillo at the hands of the Peruvian Congress.

The National Intelligence Directorate together with the Prosecutor’s Office will open investigations against “those people who are generating acts of violencedestruction of private and state property.

You want to break the rule of law, you want to generate chaos and disorder, and within that chaos and disorder seize the power of the Nation; You are wrong. From the Government we tell the people that the situation is controlled and will be controlled,” Boluarte added in the televised message.

In the midst of the political and social crisis, the president does not assume responsibility for the deceased and questions the protesters. “To those who are marching daily: Who finances them, why aren’t they working daily, why have they abandoned their family?” she noted.

A new death in Peru

The massive day this Thursday claimed one more fatalitywhen in the city of Arequipa a 30-year-old man died in an attempt to take over the airport.

Since Boluarte took office, 43 days ago, 43 civilians and a police officer died in clashes and some 10 more people died as a result of the protests and roadblocks.

But national attention focused on the “taking of Lima”for which thousands of people from all over the country participated, especially the southern Andes.

The strongest demonstration of rejection against Boluarte and the Congress passed basically in peace, except for relatively minor clashes in the vicinity of Abancay avenue, where the Bolívar square, seat of the Legislature, is located.
