Comeback for the New Year’s reception in the Manglburg

After a two-year break, the tradition of the Grieskirchner New Year’s reception was revived on Thursday evening. For the first time after a long break, the event center in Manglburg offered the festive setting, as the city canceled the contract for the ballrooms in Parz Castle. The procedure was also changed, the around 200 invited guests from all areas of social life also enjoyed a concert by the Philharmonie pt Art Linz under the direction of Norbert Hebertinger and the vocal soloists Judith Ramerstorfer and Reinhard Mayer. The city’s new image film was also presented for the first time.

In her speech, Mayor Maria Pachner outlined some of the city’s future projects. Right at the top of their list was the venue. The refurbishment or new construction of the aging Manglburg has been on the wish list for years, politically there is agreement that a contemporary event center is needed in the district town.

“A big wish that we hear from parents again and again is a lower school, so that our students don’t have to commute to Wels, Ried or Dachsberg,” said Pachner. The revitalization of the city center with the support of city marketing and vacancy management is just as important as the expansion of the cycle path network. Specifically for 2023, a photovoltaic offensive on public buildings and the establishment of an energy community are on the agenda. Investments must also be made in expensive infrastructure projects (canal, water) and blackout precautions.

Four new honorary ring bearers of the city were brought in front of the curtain, all of them political representatives who were active in the city council: the former SPÖ city councilor Christian Flotzinger, the former FPÖ deputy mayor Michael Lehner and the two former ÖVP city councilors Leopold Hofinger and NAbg. Laurenz Pottinger.

The highlights of this year’s events are the opening of the House of Music (June 23rd to 25th), the 20th edition of the Grieskirchner Cycle Marathon (July 8th and 9th) and the twice-postponed Leben.Blasmusik.Festival (June 29th to 25th). September to October 1) on the program.

After the two-and-a-half-hour program, the guests were entertained by restaurateurs Thomas and Petra Altendorfer and their team.
