The 36-year-old general practitioner from Seewalchen am Attersee had openly spoken out in favor of vaccination against the coronavirus and was then threatened by opponents of vaccination. In the summer of 2022, the doctor committed suicide.
She had already received threats by email from Germany and via social media in the spring. An e-mail address from Berlin could not be assigned to anyone during the investigation, it may have been created in the dark web, senior public prosecutor Sebastian Büchner confirmed yesterday to ORF. The proceedings in Berlin were therefore discontinued.
In Wels and Munich, on the other hand, the investigations continue. The Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a 61-year-old man. During a raid, he was suspected of threatening the doctor on the Internet.
Catfish determined against unknown
In Wels, too, the investigations – but against unknown persons – are not yet complete. This was confirmed yesterday by a spokeswoman for the Wels public prosecutor’s office in relation to the OÖ Nachrichten. A final legal assessment is still missing, and a clerk is currently still working intensively on the case.
A point in time when the process in Wels could be completed is currently not foreseeable.
