The LASK in Belek: Linzer win the first test 2:1

In the first test match of the training camp in Belek, LASK met last year’s third-placed in the Japanese first division, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, at the hotel’s own training complex. Two 60-minute halves were played.

Robert Zulj scored the first goal in the sixth minute, his shot from a tight angle was saved by goalkeeper Keisuke Osako. After twelve minutes, Efthymios Koulouris pushed the ball over the line after a pass from Keito Nakamura, but the referee ruled it offside. At the other end, Tsukasa Murishima narrowly missed the goal with a volley from the penalty spot (13′).

LASK became more compelling again twenty minutes later: Peter Michorl put a free kick on the crossbar (35th), Robert Zulj failed at the well-parried Osako (37th) and Efthymios Koulouris headed next to the post (37th). LASK keeper Alexander Schlager faced the first real test in the 41st minute when Shuto Nakano appeared in the penalty area and forced him to save. On the other side, it was Efthymios Koulouris who put Linz’s athletes in the lead: Thomas Goiginger asserted himself energetically on the right wing and played a direct pass to the Greek center forward, who only had to concede the ball (47′).

Two penalty goals in the second round

After 60 minutes (120 were played), the black and white team substituted and a mixture of experienced players and amateur players who had traveled with them entered the field. Substitute Tobias Lawal made a save in the 64th minute when he deflected a long-range shot from Gakuto Notsuda over the bar. It took a quarter of an hour before LASK became dangerous again: Marco Kadlec sent Marin Ljubicic on a journey and the Black and White team’s top scorer fell illegally in the penalty area. The fouled player coldly converted the penalty kick to make it 2-0 (82nd).

In the last half hour, offensive newcomer Moses Usor celebrated his LASK debut, he was used on the right wing. Adil Taoui found a promising chance in the closing minutes, but his shot landed in the hands of Hiroshima goalkeeper Goro Kawanami (95′). In the 105th minute, the referee noticed Moritz Würdinger’s offense in the box and awarded the visitors a flattering penalty, which Ryo Tanada converted. The late goal didn’t change anything in the 2-1 friendly win for the Black and Whites.

“It was very neat”

“I’m quite happy with both halves today. Hiroshima proved to be strong opponents, invested a lot and didn’t make it easy for us – that’s how friendly games should be. For our first test here in Belek, it was pretty good today. In general, I’m pleased to see how well the boys have been following along so far,” said LASK head coach Didi Kühabuer, who was satisfied with the test. The next game is on Tuesday, LASK meets PFK CSKA Sofia at 13:00 CET.
