On the southern shore of Lake Traunsee, carnival does not begin on November 11th, there the Christmas season is awaited until Epiphany. Only then does the saltworks community traditionally start with the opening of the carnival and the coronation of the royal couple into the fifth season. This year Princess Gudrun and Prince Jürgen rule the Ebensee carnival. In a solemn ceremony, the two took over the regency as well as the insignia, crown and scepter, and deposited a wish: “We would like to celebrate a carefree, fun, exuberant Ebensee Carnival 2023 by Ash Wednesday. Finally again without face masks, distance and curfew.”
