Linz Airport is hoping for summer

The numbers show large rates of increase – compared to the Corona year 2021, the values are still far below.

For the current year, Airport Director Norbert Draskovits expects further passenger growth. The local tour operators offer 21 weekly holiday flights in cooperation. The frequency towards Antalya (Turkey) will be doubled to four times a week. In addition, there are short trips and city breaks from Linz offered by tour operators in Upper Austria.

According to Draskovits, there are signs of further recovery on the route to Frankfurt, which was used by 80,428 passengers last year. He confirms the OÖN information, according to which the Düsseldorf connection will not be resumed in the summer flight schedule either. The previous Eurowings aircraft with 150 seats is too big, but the Lufthansa subsidiary has no smaller machines.

The owners of the province of Upper Austria and the city of Linz are satisfied with the development in the freight sector: Linz Airport achieved its second-best annual result for air freight with 55,429 tons. The year before it was around 63,000 tons – but at that time corona tests and other corona special transports were handled.
