A German homework exercise from the artificial intelligence

Write an essay (250-300 words) for a 14-year-old student on this topic: My Self on the Net. We show ourselves in the various social media as we want to see ourselves and how we want to be perceived by others. Why do most only show up with edited photos? Is the natural image no longer enough? Do we want to portray a different personality?

The essay of the AI: In our digital world it is quite normal that we present ourselves on social media and share our photos and videos with the world. Many people use these platforms to document their lives, meet friends and network with others. But often we only show ourselves the way we want to see ourselves and how we want to be perceived by others. This also means that many photos are edited, for example to remove skin imperfections or to improve their appearance. But why are we doing this? Is the natural image no longer enough? Do we want to portray a different personality? One reason may be that we feel particularly watched in the digital world and therefore feel insecure about our appearance. We want to appear perfect in order to gain approval and approval from others. Not only is that impossible, it’s also not healthy. Because if we always present ourselves in a perfect light, it can lead to us no longer accepting ourselves as we are. Another reason can be that we feel lost in the digital world and are therefore insecure who we really are. We want to present ourselves on social media as who we want to be, rather than to present ourselves as we really are. It’s important that we are aware of how we present ourselves on social media and that we aren’t let the digital world influence us. We should accept ourselves and not constantly pressure ourselves to be perfect at all times. It’s okay if we don’t always look flawless or feel great because life isn’t perfect and that’s okay.
