In the night of Sunday, October 23, 2022, a young woman from the Braunau district crashed her car into a tree on the Unterlochner municipal road in the Schalchen municipality.
The driver was not alone in the car, a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old were seriously injured in the impact. “For an unknown reason, the driver drove unbraked into a tree in a right-hand bend,” said a press release from the Upper Austrian police at the time.

The presumed cause will be the subject of a criminal hearing in the Ried Regional Court at the beginning of February.
The driver was accused by the Ried public prosecutor’s office of grossly negligent serious bodily harm, the presumption of innocence applies. According to the indictment, the young Innviertel woman was under the influence of alcohol and drugs while driving. In addition, the accused is said to have been traveling at excessive speed. The two passengers were seriously injured in the accident. If convicted, the woman from the Braunau district faces up to two years in prison.
